چکیده

If F is a geometry for this rank 3 diagram and F' is its shadow geometry with respect to the central node of the diagram, then f satisfies the Intersection Property (IP), it belongs to the following diagram where L and L* denote the classes of linear spaces and dual linear spaces, respectively. According to a well established habit, we only consider residually connected and firm geometries. That is, we include residual connectedness and firmness in the definition of geometry, as in [25]. The classification theorem will be stated in Section 3 (Theorem 1). The examples to be mentioned in that classification will be described in Section 2. We leave the rank 3 case out of the scope of this paper. When n = 3, the diagram An-2.L*.L looks as follows:

Some local 1 y

This paper is a continuation of Kantor (4, 6] and Ronan [10]. We will construct finite and infinite 'geometries' admitting flag-transitive groups and having buildings as universal covers. The first building is that of {1+ (6, (Ji2); the remaining ones are new and strange. As in the aforementioned papers, our motivation is the search for finite geometries that strongly resemble buildings, and fo...

∗ k - geometries Antonio Pasini 1

The classification of finite flag-transitive linear spaces, obtained by Buekenhout, Delandtsheer, Doyen, Kleidman, Liebeck and Saxl [20] at the end of the eighties, gave new impulse to the program of classifying various classes of locally finite flag-transitive geometries belonging to diagrams obtained from a Coxeter diagram by putting a label L or L∗ on some (possibly, all) of the single-bond ...

Affine extensions of the petersen graph and 2-arc-transitive graphs of girth 5

are considered in this paper. Examples of finite Qn-geometries are constructed for any n i> 2. In particular, we obtain new examples of finite 2-arc-transitive graphs of girth 5, containing Petersen subgraphs (cf. [4], [5] for an enquiry into this class of graphs). Furthermore, we give a complete classification of Q2-geometries using coset enumeration. In particular, we show that they are all f...

Some Exceptional 2-Adic Buildings

Tits [ 191 has initiated the study of geometries having properties strongly resembling those of buildings (compare [6]). His main result is that, in general, such a geometry is the image of a building under a suitable type of morphism. These geometries that are almost buildings were called GABS in [lo], and finite examples were described in [2, 8, 10, 15, 161 that are not buildings but have hig...

The Flag-Transitive C3-Geometries of Finite Order

It is shown that a flag-transitive C3-geometry of finite order (x, y) with x > 2 is either a finite building of type (73 (and hence the classical polar space for a 6-dimensional symplectic space, a 6-dimensional orthogonal space of plus type, a 6or 7-dimensional hermidan space, a 7-dimensional orthogonal space, or an 8-dimensional orthogonal space of minus type) or the sporadic A7 -geometry wit...
